Northern Cape waterbird surveys
In the Northern Cape mid-summer and mid-winter waterbird surveys are conducted at c. 60 wetlands. This project is conducted under the auspices of the Avian Demography Unit’s Coordinated Waterbird Count Project. The most recent survey results are available as pdf files (Winter 2006; Summer 2006/7; Winter 2007).

Waterbird surveys are also conducted at the Northern Cape’s only Ramsar site, the Orange River estuary. The results of these surveys were published in Ostrich (link unavailable).

Since 1995 monthly flamingo surveys have been conducted at Kimberley’s Kamfers Dam.
