There are now significantly fewer Lesser Flamingos on the island, but the breeding event is still underway. There are perhaps a few hundred adult flamingos still incubating eggs (and eggs are visible in some of the nests on the northern side of the island), as well as several hundred very small chicks. Thousands of "chicks" have now fledged and can be seen foraging with the adults. The final tally of chicks produced during the breeding event is difficult to determine, but could number between 8000 and 10,000.
Several thousand chicks have now fledged and can be seen flying around Kamfers Dam, and feeding in the large flocks amongst the adult Lesser Flamingos.
