12 February 2008
I visited the island at about 17h30 on 12 February. A count of the chicks was virtually impossible, as the island was covered from edge to edge with adult Lesser Flamingos. There are a few Greater Flamingos on the island and I am sure they are breeding, albeit in much smaller numbers than their Lesser Flamingo cousins. There was one Lesser Flamingo chick on the water’s edge and it seemed rather lethargic and it had a slight limp.
